In most cases, there are sufficient resources available to guide student athletes throughout their recruiting process. However, as parents, we often have to figure it out as the process unfolds before our eyes. Kevin and Shannon do a tremendous job in outlining effective, yet simple tactics to maximize one’s parental support role regardless of what stage their child is at.

This is one of those books every parent should get their hands on as soon as their kid shows any interest in sports whether that’s rec league or travel. From start to finish it nails exactly what the role of a parent should look like in today’s competitive youth sports world. It doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and it gives clear perspective on how the path our kids take on the field carries over into who they become off of it.Speaking from experience, I have one child playing Division I and another competing at Division III, and I can tell you this book is right on target. It’s not just about raising athletes it’s about the relationship between moms, dads, and their kids, period. Sports or no sports, the lessons apply.
